#gerberwearcares, Helping Families in Need Throughout the Year

Advocacy Comments Off on #gerberwearcares, Helping Families in Need Throughout the Year

Gerber Childrenswear is an expert resource for how to clothe and care for babies, toddlers and children, but it is also a company that gives back to its communities. This holiday season we are looking back at how Gerber Childrenswear has helped families throughout 2015 with the donation of apparel and other products. K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers, the company’s charity partner, encourages the fashion and children’s industries to give back by donating new merchandise for people in need. This past year Gerber Childrenswear has donated over 144,000 pieces of new clothing worth nearly $1 million to K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers!

While most consumers and fans of the brand don’t have thousands of pieces of new product to give, they can show their commitment to helping children and families by donating money to K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers; the money raised will help distribute donated new product to families in need. In fact, K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers is so efficient that every $1 donated helps move $10 of donated new product.

One of our community partners that received product from Gerber Childrenswear is Baby Bundles in Charlotte, NC. The organization uses volunteers to sort donated product and pack items into the charity’s signature Baby Bundles, full of supplies to help new parents care for their baby.

“In 2016, we plan to provide Bundles to 750 fragile families in Charlotte; that’s a 50% increase over our 2015 goal,” said Rebecca Grant, executive director of the community charity Baby Bundles. “The donation we received from Gerber Childrenswear though K.I.D.S./Family Delivers allows us to start the new year with a full warehouse, ready to support families and newborns in need!”

Give the Gift of a Fresh Start

Give Dignity, Give Hope.

Today is the perfect time to pause from holiday shopping and planning and think about those among us who are less fortunate – children, adults and families in distress and in need of assistance.

This holiday season – and throughout the year – I visit children and families in need. When they receive new clothing, home goods, books, shoes, and other essentials they do not have, eyes light up, and smiles appear.

The need is real, immense and growing. You can make a difference! Your support of K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers will provide not only new essential products, but also hope and self-respect, and optimism for their future.

Nearly 30 years ago, I helped to establish K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers with several others.  Based on my own experiences as a child who grew up in the foster care system for several years – I know we all need help sometimes, and that our communities are stronger when we each step up and assist.  These memories continue to motivate me, and I ask you to join me in this journey by supporting K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers.

Help us deliver more hope and smiles this holiday season and for the year to come.  Thank you for your support, and best wishes for a joyous and peaceful holiday season.
